Arrived in La Paz yesterday morning after yet another 12 hr over night bus journey. I am starting to get used to the long journeys now. Unfortunately I am none the wiser of the end of the new Batman film. After breakfast and a much needed shower, we took a stroll around the city. We did a short walking tour from the lonely planet book, starting at Plaza San Francisco and had a look around the Iglesia de San Francisco. The church was massive, inside there was a lot of gold and statues. I have never seen anything quite like it. From here we headed to the Mercado de Hechiceria (witches market), there were lots of fetuses and skeletons displayed on the various stalls on that street. I will update you on the market when we go back today. As it was a Sunday the markets and museums were not really in action so from here we just headed back to the Plaza Pedro D Murillo, near the hostel. A band was in full swing and the pigeons were in mass. Had a great salad lunch and then on our way to see about tours we came across a large fair with lots of stalls and traditional music and dance. After purchasing a few items we had a sit down in San Pedro plaza unaware that we were right next to the prison. Having had more than 8 minutes of sun we headed back to the hostel for a much needed sleep, BBQ and a drink.
