Preferred Arequipa to Lima as soon as I stepped off the bus. Was a nice warm sunny day, was less deafening with noise, and seemed to be more quaint. Found my way to my hostel which had a really nice homely feel to it so I was chuffed. Was given a tip that the Santa Catalina Convent was worth a visit from a guy staying at the hostel, so later took an english tour around it. Learnt how the nuns went through stages of training, learnt about how they lived and took some photos of the view from the top of the church. The Plaza de Armas here is so pretty, with the trees, fountain and pigeons, all with the backdrop of the impressive cathedral.
Cooked my first meal since I´ve been away in the eve (Pasta bol woop) and just chilled out in the hostel watching US crime dramas with the fellow travellers.
So far today I´ve just wandered the places I didn´t see yesterday like the Alpaca markets - bought a really cute pair of Alpaca woolen gloves for 2 pounds from a lovely little old man, considering buying a decent Alpaca jumper or bag too while I´m in Peru. Just had a traditional meal for lunch which was the most substantial meal I´ve had so far (and it was gooood). Right, well I´m off to see the Cathedral before getting my bus to Cusco later tonight. So excited to be moving into my student accomodation tomorrow!Love x
