claire & mike's travels
hiya everyone,
sorry it has taken so long for me to update this, but the internet has been a bit hit and miss here. we are currently in singapore airport waiting to board our flight to australia. the airport is the best i have ever seen. they have a swimming pool, cinema, free foot massages and loads more.
so since my last update we spent a few more days in bangkok and went to katchanaburi, where we went over the river kwai, on the death valley railway and saw the war graves of many british soldiers form world war 2.
we then flew to kuala lumpur and spent four days there. on the first day we went to the biggest bird park in the worldn and the most beautiful orchid garden ever. the bird park was well cool, they had walk through enclosures and everything. the next day we headed into the city and went up the petronas twin towers, which are at 88storeys high, are the tallest towers in the world. we we up and across the sky bridge which joins the two towers on the 41st floor. the view was amazing but it was so high up and the bridge is designed to move with the wind. we went for a lovely meal after and did a bit of shopping in the huge shopping centre below. mike bought bubble bath, what a big girl, to have a bath with in the hotel !!! we then did a waking tour back through the city and headed toard chinatown which is where we stayed.
we then headed overland by train to singapore. the train was quite good it only took 7.5 hours and they played films and stuff. however when we got to singapore tryign to find somewhere to stay was a nightmare. we met a girl form wolves and one form essex so we decided to try and find somewhere together. we ended up walking aroudn chinatown for 2 hours, and then we finally found something. howver a little spooked by the fact tha they also rented rooms by the hour, if you know what i mean, we were pleasantly surprised. the room was small but clean. the next day the four of us checked into a 4 bed dorm where we stayed for the next three nights before checking into te brothel style place for a final night last night.
singapore was greta very clean ad cheap to get around, pretty much like KL. one te first day the four of us eaded to the zoo, and this place was the best zoo i have ever been too, if any of you ever come over here you have to go. the animals roamed between the different sections and we saw wild monkeys and orangutans just hangin out in the trees. we saw loads of animals including white tigers, polar bears, kangaroos, and so much more, when i put my pics on you should be able to see.
me and mike spent the next day doing a hop on hop off bus tour around the city, which is similar to wat they have in london. this was quite cool we went o down to te harbour and the river and saw all the different cultures that make singapore so nice. we saw the famous raffles hotel, named after the founder of singapore (thats for you mandy i know your enjoying the history).
we then went to sentosa island for the day and did underwater world. the aquarium was wkd, we got to touch bamboo sharks and they were so cool, i got all excited like a little child. the had a huge shark section which must have had about a hundred sharks. we then went to look around fort silsoso which was built by the british to help defend singapore during ww2. we went around n orchid garden and then to a dolphin show as we got it free with our entry to the dolphins. the dolphins were rare as they were pink, the did the usual dolphiny sort of trick but it was kinda cool. we then went for a walk along the beach. it is basically a man made island that has a shed load to do on it.
anyway thats about it, got another 2 hours before we board so gotta go and find something else to do. sorry to all the people that received my email which was similar, bt i dont have everyones e-mail so have to put it on here to. to uncle steve, andrew and ingrid, aunty jill, unty lin and uncle mick, and mick and julie if you send us an email with you email address written on it i will be able to send this stuff directly aswell. hope everyones ok back in blighty. cant wait to get to oz, woo hoo...speak to you all soon.xxxxx
