Hi
On Friday we went from Sydney to The Blue Mountains by train which took about 2 hours.
We are staying in Katoomba which is a great place to explore The Blue Mountains, which gets its name from the blue haze that is given off from the ecalyptus trees which surround the area.
We have spent the last couple of days exploring the mountains on foot and by 4x4 jeep. Echo Point and Then Three sisters are the most famous of the mountain formations and are spectacular, especially on a clear day.
Yesterday we visited Scenic World which is an area within tne mountains and takes you deep into and out of the mountains by three different methods: Railway, Cablecar and Glass bottom Cablecar. We took the Railway, which is known as The Worlds Steepest Railway, down to the bottom. Its was a sheer drop which you'll see from the photos - quite scary! Whilst we were down there we trekked through the forest for a couple of hours and then returned by cable car to the top.
In the afternoon we went on a 4x4 jeep tour with Misty Mountain Tours - just the driver and the two of us. It was an excellent tour and took us deep into the moutains and the bush where we saw some spectacular scenery and searched for Kangaroos and Wallabies in the wild - an absolutely amazing experience. Our driver and tour guide Ken could talk for England, no Australia (as its bigger!!) He didn't stop talking from the minute we got in the car and we were both mentally and physically exhausted by the end of the trip.
Today we're returning to Sydney for a couple of days and then flying up to Alice Springs for our trip to Ayres Rock - its over 40 degrees up there so can't wait!! Time to buy a hat i think!!
Hope everyone is well and looking forward to returning to work!
Take care
