We arrived in Cusco the highest city at altitude in Peru after a killer 10 hour bus! The bus company was a cheap one (good quality- still better than National Express!- althou thats not hard!) so a lot of the locals use it too, and they seemed to think that it was perfectly acceptable at 6am to start playing ringtones on their phones! Now i dont speak any spanish but everyone sure understands f*** off! Haha! Soon shut them up! Ha!
Cusco is amazing! The altitude isnt!! I felt so wierd for the first two days here, and ill! I just wanted to sleep!! But i battled through, there is this massive Sun Festival at the moment and there are honesty no words to describe it! It is mental! We arrived thursday and there has been something in the main square for (and im not joking) every hour since we have arrived! Dancers and little kids dressed in tradtional Pervian dress, its incredible.. Its the sun festival and they scacrfice a larmas heart as and offering to the Gods!
On saturday we thought it was the main party... It wasnt. Its was the ONLY day in the entire month of june that didnt have a festival! Good one..! Planning our hetic night out and there wasnt one! Oops! So instead we went for a meal with the dutch couple who were also in our hostel (such nice people) and the two Chinese girls that we meet on the Colca Canyon trek! It was an awesome night, bit of drinking, lots of food.. Tastttyy! Going to get so fat at this rate! :-( ha!
On the Sunday we were supposed to have an early night and no alcohol! We had the opposite on both! We went to the Wild Rover hostel to watch the England v Italy game, good game until England did typical England and got themselves knocked out.. But by then it was happy hour... Need i say more...? Ha! Brilliant brilliant night thou! And i brought the COOLEST shoes EVER! There like high tops but Peru version, omg MOVE aside Adidas!
The hostel we are staying at is also one of the best we've been to, Kokopelli, it actually has warm showers (i wont go too far and say there hot), and comfy beds! Oh and nice people! Which is always a bonus!!
We are leaving now to go on our Inka Jungle Trek, 4 days, 3 nights.. Mountain biking, hiking, white water rafting, more hiking, zip lining, oh and Machu Picchu !! If I survive I will update when back! If not, great knowing you all! Haha!! :-)
Speak soon! Muchos love
