Finally back in the nice weather! After an incredibly short trip to Salvador we arrived in Parati after a two hour flight and four hour bus! It was worth it though!
Parati is really nice.. Think cobbled streets, nice little boutique shops and houses and a cute harbour. In fact the only problem with Parati was the beach that was there. It just really wasnt that nice. Granted though the beaches on the various islands around the main land were incredible! Clear blue seas and deserted island beaches! Just a shame you couldnt go to those everyday!
We obviously went on a boat trip with all the nice beaches been out at sea. And it was a boat trip or hiring a kayak and going yourself! Haha! YEAH RIGHT! So we booked the boat trip with the hostel and off we went! The captain came to collect us and walked us right to the harbour and on to the boat.. Where it was just going to be the two of us! Ha! Luxury romcom! Haha! It was amazing! I immediately set my towel out and began my day of intense sunbathing! Ha! :-) we stopped of at three different islands and each one was really nice and the water was pretty clear! We even got to feed little monkeys! Returning back to the harbour at about 4! Perfect day! :-)
Whilst in Parati we also went to the waterfalls.. Again they say that you can hire a bike and cycle to these but its up quite a steep hill apparentely and we all know my cycling skills are not great at the best of times but in 28 degree heat and up a hill wearing flip flops and a bikini probably wouldnt have been a great idea! So we took the bus- which was also a hell of a lot cheaper!! We went to the main waterfall, togaba CHECK which wa basically a slide. It was AWESOME! And also very cold water and very slippy to attempt to walk back up! So much so that in front of everyone i spectacuarly CHECK dropped, and at top speed headed straight for the dry part (which your meant to walk up) and the big rock (which your not supposed to aim at).. Everyone thought id hit my head but i was ok.. Did completely ruin my bikini bottoms though! Me being soooo clever decided to wear white bottoms! To slide down rocks essentially! Clever i know!
The other waterfall was actually more like a jump off a rock into the water. It was sooo high! And also you only had a small gap of water to aim at, on one side there was a waterfall and the other were more shallow rocks! It was terrifying and i climbed up hoping to jump but couldnt do it! Decided that my leg in cast for the last three weeks of our trip would result in hurrendous tan lines! Ha!
Overall Parati was amazing but we are heading a few days early to Ilha Grande as they are dubbed as the same level as the Thai Islands! Paradise! Hello!!!
Speak soon! Muchos love.
