In what seems like no time at all I'm back on my way to Paris again, this time to spend a few days with BE. Due to a severe lack of sleep the night before I spend the first 2 hours on the train alternating between feeling sick and falling into deep fitful sleeps. I arrive at the gare and make my way north to Saint-Denis where BE meets me at the station. We spend the rest of the day (and night) on his terrace philosophising, eating horseradish and (of course) drinking wine.
After waking up with the sun we spend a couple of hours sunbathing before heading to the 18th for a wander round, including seeing this wall with 'I love you' in pretty much every language in the world. Mignon, hein? From there we went to the 11th which is basically China Town and had some Vietnamese for lunch as we were both starving. We then walked up to a large canal in the 19th where there was loads of Paris Plages stuff going on and had a siesta in a park for a couple of hours, until BE had had enough of stick wielding children, basketball practice and nosy park rangers. We took the metro to the Bastille, which I'd forgotten I'd already seen and then headed towards the Promenade Plantée. Or we would have done if I'd been directing us, but after about 30 mins or so we finally arrived and took a nice balade along the walkway. Before it got too late we bought ingredients and headed home to make (after a few wobbles) a lovely tomato and goats cheese tart with apple and red cabbage salad. And of course more wine. Followed by another star-gazing evening surrounded by cats.
Our final day was spent lazing on the terrace before having some quick meatballs and heading to Monparnasse for BE to catch his train. I strolled around the quarter before heading to the Observatoire to have a read and a snooze in the sun. All too soon it was time to catch my train back to Montpellier.
