hello everybody

well day 3 is now at an end. what a wonderful day! a nice sleep in was welcomed and a thorough a sleep i had as i was informed upon rising that a siren not unlike an air raid siren had gone off at 630 in the morning. id slept through it. we heard it again at breakkie and were informed by our hotel hosts that its the siren for the volunteer fire brigade, calling them to service so needs to be heard across the entire town to wake people etc. we were booked on a 1145 whale watchign tour but turned upto discover it was cancelled but was able to book a make up tour at 4pm that we were hoping would go ahead. in the mean time we explored kaikoura further. we visited the limestone cave called maori leap cave had a bit of a drive round the south side of the peninsula and the top and went to the lookout. by then we had enuf time to go to the motel and change (as was gonna get cold whilst on the tour) and head to the whale watching station. thankfully our tour was still on and eventually we were out on the boat. was still a little bit rough and i felt a little quesy but came fine after our first whale spotting. we were told that to see one or two whales is really good anything after that is amazing. we saw three up close and at least another 3 from a distance so were very lucky. we also saw a few albatross which was awesome. truly amazing creatures. dinner tonight consisted of visiting the caravan parked just over the road from our hotel that sells fresh seafood and especially crayfish (kaikoura is the crayfish capital of nz and we couldnt leave tomoz without tasting. it was beautiful. very nice. tomoz we head back to christchurch, and meet with phil, ann and m the following day to continue our trip with them. so far the weather has been beautiful for us but tonight it sets in with a forecast tomoz of 8-19 degrees and showers. altho depending on whos reading will depend on theyre opinion of that weather. for me its bloody cold. to all the relies from england thats a warm summers day :P anywho i should head off and get some sleep. talk soon
