Went to the grand palace this morning. According to the vast majority of 'helpful' people on the street, the place was closed today; or was having a religious celebration; or was hosting a funeral. They all had alternatives that they could take me to they said. I ignored all of them - and guess what? The grand palace was open.

Was quite stunning. Saw lots of ornate buildings and went into the temple of the emerald Buddha. Had to make sure that I didn't show him the soles of my feet (think it's disrespectful).

Was very sunny and hot - should have worn a hat as I could feel the sun on my head.
