We survived Vang Vieng! The 4 hour bus ride to get here was rough because of the winding roads and hills but we were happy when we finally arrived and the sun was shining. The town itself isn't very big and Laos is different from the places we've been so far, its much more relaxed and slower paced, we actually seen a road sign that said no honking allowed. Yay! The locals are overly friendly and always smiling. The landscape is stunning, a nice change of scene...

We left Hoi An on a rainy day and flew to Ha Noi hoping the weather would clear up for us but we were only faced with colder and wetter weather. Brrrr! I hope that is the only time we have to use that word on this trip. It had to of been at least 5 degrees...a very cold 5 degrees! The 10 hour overnight bus from Nha Trang to Hoi An was very unpleasant, by far the worst experience yet...my ( karli's) bed was two feet too short for me, the air con was blasting, the bus drivers were smoking and the bathroom was the worst one yet! Anyways we made it to Hoi An by 5am, but couldn't check into our hotel until 930am so we went for a walk down to the river and around Old Town. Our wonderful tour leader Kevin, ever so kindly booked us onto the same overnight train as the group from HCMC to Nha Trang. The train ride was pretty good, us plus two other girls from the tour shared a room so we had a little slumber party.
