Today we decide to avoid the Autobahns. Instead we travelled through lovely little towns, over passes and through valleys. We travelled up to and over the Passo di Pramollo at 1552m. The road up was hairy with tight hairpin bends and crazy drivers who constantly travelled on our side of the narrow roads. Today we explored Bled - its lake & surrounding mountains. We started by taking a brisk walk around the lake near the Olympic Rowing Centre & the church that's propped up on an island in the lake. We then drove around the lake & briefly visited Bled Castle that is sits on a high rock bed overlooking the lake. The views here were magnificent. All set to leave Ilok at 10 am this morning, actually left at 11:15 am - a bit of a sad farewell, but, happy in many ways as we all are looking forward to catching up again in 2 years time. Today is our last chance to pick up some fresh produce at Bačka Palanka. We purchased the goodies needed to keep Cvita going for a while, then headed off to find a large enamelled roasting pot to take home. Everything is so cheap here that we couldn't resist to buy some bits & pieces for ourselves. Thank goodness we packed lightly when we left home.
