We headed off just before 9am.
We took the autostrade to make our travel easier. Italy seems to have way too many roundabouts through the small towns. Milano was so busy it was crazy. There was nowhere to park the car so we drove through parts of the old town. Some of the buildings were beautiful. The roads were all made of cobblestones & large stone paving. There were trams & buses and loads of death defying cyclists. One cyclist was carrying a 2-3m ladder vertically, and weaving in and out of traffic.
We eventually made it to a small place called Fusina where we were able to rent a small bungalow (2 single beds, toilet & shower & most importantly an air-conditioner), no kitchen or tea/coffee facilities. We did try elsewhere but this place was a 20 minute ferry ride from Venezia, & much cheaper than the rest. So we decided to eat out for tea.
We had an esky so we organised our own breaky & would eat lunch on the run if need be.
