It was seriously time to give the 'car' a decent run & for John to make sure he could handle the complexities of driving on the wrong side of the road & changing gears with his right hand.
We headed off to another section of the Black Forest near Freiburg - which is apparently Germany's hottest city - even in Winter when the snow surrounds the city in the valley.
A cable car ride took us up to the top of Mt. Schauinsland - 1284m above sea level.
A short walk took us up a wooden tower that gave a great view of surrounding monutains, valleys & countryside. we were particulalry taken by a town to the west - Hofsgrund - that had about 100 houses dotted a short distance away from where we stood.
Had to enjoy a cup of coffee (great & strong) with a massive slice of Black Forest gateau - unfortunately Germany hasn't heard that real cream in cakes tastes better than mock cream, so it didn't taste as good as we hoped. Nevertheless it was consumed.
The drive back from this region was spectacular - rolling hills, steep monutains, beautifully green valleys & narrow winding roads.
