We'll it has been a crazy few days. Unfortunately the internet connection won't let me upload pictures so I will do my best to describe things instead. We arrived in Rome on Tuesday and after a long flight and much confusion at the airport we arrived at our hotel in downtown Rome. But we were there long enough to drop, our bags and grab a cab so we could make it to our tour of the Vatican Museum. The drive through the busy streets of Rome was quite the experience. No one follows any sort of rules of the road. Not even pedestrians. They walk out in front of on coming traffic be it a car, scooter, motorbike, or bus. The streets are narrow and filled with everyone going in any which direction. Lol it was as entertaining as it was scary! We arrived safely at the tour meeting spot and started the tour. Vatican City is a city within a city. A huge wall surrounds it. The museum, the Basilica, and the Sistine chapel. The grounds are full of beautiful statues and gardens and the museum is actual 3 buildings. So much history within its walls. Words can't describe how beautiful it truly is. Walking through the Sistine chapel and the Basilica was beyond my wildest imagination with their beautiful painted domes and ceilings. Pictures cannot do them justice. Mind you I have no pictures from the Sistine chapel as it was not allowed and we were quite restricted from taking any. You will just have to come see it for your self. The day ended with us eating pizza at a little pizzeria then off to bed for some long awaited sleep. The next day was another long one.

Today was a long hot day. So much walking but is many beautiful sites that I just couldn't believe I was seeing them. Our tour took us first to the Coliseum. What was so surprising was its location. Right in the city of Rome stands this iconic structure. I actually had to pinch myself as we were walking through. Standing inside at the very top looking down and imaging the great roman warriors that fought battles there was very surreal. I have always found that era fascinating and this trip made me want to learn more. I just wanted to stay and soak it all in but there was more to see. After a short bus ride we were dropped off in what I am sure was the craziest part of the city and made our way on foot through traffic and people all the while trying to keep up with the guide. We finally made it the Spanish steps. I have to say they were kind of a let down. But what was funny was while looking at them all I could think of was Ray Barone whining yo Debra about climbing the steps. LOL he was right, they are just steps. There was however a beautiful fountain located just in front of them that you could actually drink the water from. Mark helped himself to some. Picture will be available. Once again we headed off to our next destination. The Trevi fountain!! Another place I have always wanted see. It as beautiful in person as it look in pictures and the water is actually blue. I did through my coin in, 3 of them actually. The story goes, if you through a coin into the fountain you will return to Rome. I'm good I think :) our next and final destination was the Parthenon. Not as majestic as the one we are yet to see in Greece but it was impressive. We could go inside of this one. It was fascinating but by this time I was tired of listening to our guide screaming through the tiny earbud in my ear and I turned her off. I was about ready for the bus by now as we had been walking for hours and it was HOT! Finally we got on our bus and settled in for a drive to the ship. It was a very scenic ride with mountains in the distance and beautiful countryside to keep us busy for the 90 minute journey. The all of a sudden out of nowhere the sea appears and our ship is within view. Hallelujah!!!!!! That's it for now. I have drinks to be drank and scenery to watch as we sail away. Check back soon!!!!! Look for pictures on my Facebook for now. Ciao
