A luxurious lie in this morning till 8am & then up and out to the Toronga Zoo, as it's our best chance of seeing Australian wildlife close up! First stop the Wild Ropes, a bit like Go Ape. We looked very fetching in the safety gear, luckily no personal cameras allowed - my efforts will remain consigned to memory - thank goodness! We started on the low course, not too bad just don't look down, I did have very good guidance from Sophie ahead of me, From there to the second course about 20ft high with more challenging obstacles and great views of the city which made it a little better! I fell off, got back on & survived to tell the tale - all good prep for our NZ adventures!!
From there we ventured to the zoo, first stop the koalas, the cutest little bears. Mum was sleeping but the youngster was jumping around & hassling Mum for hugs - very rare to see them so lively, it must be the Spring weather. Next stop Wallabies and Kangaroos, all out in the open so you could get really close. We saw all sorts; frogs, snakes, spiders, possums, Tasmanian Devil and a swimming platypus, again very rare. It's a lovely Zoo, our quick trip ended up at 5 hours.
After that we went to Manly, a nice area with a gorgeous bay. Beautiful houses, a stunning beach where we ventured in to the sea for a paddle, bearable but very cold. After an hour or so Charlotte drove us up to North Head to see the sun set, a stunning vantage point & a well kept local secret. Charlotte is 16 & learning to drive, you have to accumulate 120 hrs supervised driving before your test. She's doing really well, we felt very safe with her.
Today is our last day in Sydney, we will drop in to the city later for a last look around. Sorting & packing for the next leg of our trip NZ. Hopefully the wild ropes will have set me up for some adrenaline sports.
