Hey Everyone,
I have finally managed to get some more pictures up from the last 3 weeks!
So..TO THE ISLANDS! I had been looking forward to the islands for a while, and after an intense week in Cambodia and a 14 hour bus jorney from Bangkok sitting on the beach for 10 days was a very appealing thought!
So after the bus jouney my first destination was Koh Phanagn, the second largest island next to Koh Samui. I quickly found a quiet beach bangalow about 3km away from Haad Rin (where the full moon party is). This was perfect, as it was very quiet and relaxed during the day and was in very easy reach of the main nightlife in Haad Rin. After a lazy first day getting my bearings and sitting on the beach, i met a group of 5 guys; 2 from Sweden (Alex & Tom), 1 from Germany (jonno) and 2 from England (Tom & Rowland). So over the next few days i stayed with them at our group of bangalows, playing volley ball and sunbathing.
The main reason we were in Kho Phanagn was, of course, the Full Moon Party, which took place on March 1st! An amazing 20000 people decended on Haad Rin beach for the world famous party and it definetely lived upto expectations. Each part of the beach was split up into various types of music with certain parts being much busier than others. So the next couple of days we just chilled out at our beach bungalows and made plans to go to Kho Tao (the smallest island)
Unfortunately the group split up after the full moon with the 2 swedish guys heading to Malaysia and Tom and Rowland heading to the north of the island for a few days then would meet me in Kho Toa. It was therefore, only me and Jonno (20)to Kho Tao. We stayed on Sarui beach (the main beach) and managed to get a bungalow just off of it. During our 5 days in Kho Toa we did a full day snorkling trip around the island. Kho Tao is worl famous for its diving/snorkling and on our trip we saw huge Parrot fish and literally hundreds of species of fish. This proved to be our best day there and was a lot more relaxed than Kho Phanagn. I managed to bump into to friends from my primary school (Adam Nagle/Andy Cahill) which was amazing, as i had no idea they were staying in Kho Tao, and so had a good couple of nights with them.
After Kho Tao i spent the day in Bangkok and caught my flight to Bali, where i am now!
I will update you on bali in a week or so, but i am currently surfing everyday, getting the odd lesson from the locals on the beach who are more than willing to help out for a very cheap price.
