Hey Everyone!
So to Queenstown! Queenstown is know to be the adventure capital of the world, with bungy jumping, sky diving, canyon swinging and skiing all withing half an hour of the town. It is also know as the party capital of New Zealand; and so we decided to stay we week here!
The first day we arrived we got ourselves checked into 'Base' hostel and had a look round town to get our bearings. Qeenstown is relatively small and set on a stunning lake surrounded but mountains on all sides. We had a big first night with all the people we had met on the Kiwi bus starting in the main hostel bar and heading to World bar up the road after.
The next day we found out that George M foot had become a much more serious injury than we originally thought, after he fell on it a week prior to Queenstown. It was suspected to be fractured, but he need a CAT scan in Invergargill 2 hours south. So we rented a car for 2 days and headid south. Most of the day was spent in the hospital and eating dominoes to hear the verdict of Georges leg. Unfortunataely it was much worse and what we suspected may be a small fracture, turned out to be snapped ligaments in his foot; meaning an operation, 6 weeks in a cast and 3 months on crutches. After arriving back in Queenstwon the next day George finally made the difficult decision to go home. This however, did not dampen his spirits one bit and he was back out the next night!
The following days we spent playing mini/frisbee golf in the park and making the most of the nightlife Queenstown has to offer. But the inevitable day tht we had to bungy came very fast. We decided to jump on Jav's birthday, so we took a long bus trip to the jump site. We decided to do the best jump in Qeenstown, which was the third highest bungy in the world, 135m above a river jujmping off a bridge. We were all fairly nervous before hand but when the strapped us all up and reached the ledge, we were petrified. But we all made the mad leap over the edge! This was by far the best thing any of us had done so far on the trip and we celebrated JAv';s birhtday in the evening by dressing him ina bright green wig, glasses and cape for Karaoke night!
The next hungover morning we made the 8 hour trip to Christchurch, where we had a quiet night and flew the next day to Wellington for Haydn's birthday!
We will update you on the events of Haydn's birthday and adventures of the norht island shortly!
Love Haydn, Jav, George C, George M and Tom
