Kai Kora everyone,
We've had a very eventfull last 2 weeks. Jav and Haydn spent a quiet few days in Christchurch waiting for the 2 Georges and Tom who were at the fullmoon party in Thailand, before we all met in Christchurch and started the Kiwi Experience.
The Kiwi Experience is similar to the Greyhound, however you stay with the same bus most of the way round the island and stay with the same people aswell. On out first night we spent having a look round christchurch and catching up on the last 3 months with a bbq on the balcony of our hostel. We then boarded the kiwi bus the next day, with an early start and headed to Kai Koura. Kai Koura is a small fishing village where we spent most of the day walking up to the look out point over the bay and seeing the first of the incredible scenerey the south island has to offer.
After this we headed to Nelson for George C birthday. We had gotten to know our group on the bus fairly well by this point and everyone made the effort to let George have a 'memorable' night. This started off by him wearing a sheep outfit with a bottle of rum strapped to one hand and a bucket attatched to the other. This was the end of Georges night, after being kicked out numerous times from the club we brought him back just about in one piece, and overall had a great night out.
Another early start and we made out way to the 'Poo Pub'. This pub is a famous stop over on the kiwi experience where a fancy dress theme is picked and the whole pub is handed over to us for the night. Our theme was 'tight and bright'; so first stop was the warehouse (similar to asda) and we headed straight to the kids section. After an hour of attempting to put on kids clothing we headed back to the pub for a big steak dinner with all 91. The night that followed was extremely funny with the winner of the fancy dress winning a bungy jump.
After a great night a the pub the next stop was Franz Jospeh. This small town's soul purpose is to provide glacier hikes up the Franz Joseph glacier. So the next day all 6 of us, including Luke (21) who we met on the kiwi, set off up the glacier with a guide and full gear including hiking boots and crampons. The 4 hour walk on the glacier consisted of squeezing through crevases, climbing through ice tunnels and seeing the incredible views down the valley. We were extremely lucky with the weather and had a perfect clear day.
Next stop; Lake Wanake. Here we made a last minute decision to go sky diving because of the incredible weather and views over the mountains. After dumping our bags at the reception we headed straight to the skyt diving centre and got straight into of diving gear. Haydn went first with Gavin and Tom in the first plane, follwed by Tom B, Javed and George M in the second and George C and 2 other girls in the other. We all jumped from 15000ft and had a minutes free fall. We all said it was one of the best/scariest things we have done and would deffinately do one again. In the evening it was Karaoke night. Everyone sang one way or another with Haydn and George M beeing stitched up by Tom B to sing 'Sex Bomb' in front of everyone!!
After a very funny night singing we headed to Queenstown where we are now! We are planning on doing the 3rd highest bungy jump in the World tomorrow (134m), so we will keep you updated on the events that follow.
Haydn, George M, George C, Javed and Tom
