Hey Everyone!
The last week has been really busy and a lot of fun. Started off by getting an overnight train to Chang Mai. Chang Mai is a really chilled out town and the weather is less humid so your not sweating buckets within 2 minutes. I booked a 2 day trek in which i went elephant riding and we stayed in a bamboo hut with a hill tribe which over looked the mountains. I had a great group and in the evening we sat around a camp fire just drinking and chatting. The next day we headed down to an amazing waterfall and went white water rafting for the rest of the way back. This was good, but as it is the dry season there wasnt much in th e way of rapids but it was still good fun.
After spendi ng a couple of days chilling out in Chang Mai I got a 2 day slow boat along the Makong river. The boat, filled with about 120 travellers and room for about 60 was a bit cramped but it made it very easy to meet people. When i arrived I stayed in a room with some guys from Canada, we had a great night out and as there is a curfue in Laos of everything finishig at 11pm, we all headed to the only place open...Bowling! Turned out to be great as everyone from the boat ended up here and stayed drinking/bowling untill around 2am. We then spent the next couple of days around town and at an epic waterfall about an hour outside of town.
Laos has to be one of the best countrys i have been to. Its really chilled out and the scenery is incredible. I have just arrived at Vieng Veng and staying with a Kiwi called Adam, and plan to do the Tubing tomorrow. Tubing is basically grabbing a rubber ring and heading down the Makong river stoppi ng at every floating bar and going on the 10m hight rope swings, so should be a lot of fun.
Overall having a great time and i will update you ASAP.
