So, after 2 very stressful days of packing and storing just about everything I own, I just about made it in time for my flight to Bangkok. I flew with Johannah, one of many friends who are coming out here for a holiday. She's been here a few times, so it was nice to have someone show me the ropes
I arrived last night and in the last 24 hours I've done loads already. First I explored the Khao San Road which is great for sitting at a bar, ordering some food and doing superb people spotting. Within minutes of grabbing a table, Casper, an old friend who I've known for years, sat on the table next to us! Somehow, we've managed to cross paths (he's going East to West with his wife Sue. After a few beers we decided that we should hook up the next day for a bit of sightseeing.
Today, we took a canal bus-style boat and went to see a beautiful Buddhist temple (Wat Pho) with a huuuuuge reclining Buddha. We then took a frantic Tuk Tuk ride (I thinks that's how it's spelt) to a shopping mall to get me some medicine coz I've brought a cold with me :o( Can't complain though, it's really warm, everything's so cheap, and I've got 6 months of fun ahead of me.
I've been having a bit of grief with uploading photos, so this one will have to do for now.
Tonight, 2 more (girl) friends are arriving, and by Monday there will be about 12 people from Windsor/Slough here (including the missus) - poor Bangkok!!! Needless to say, some serious partying ahead of us. I might even have a few DJ spots sorted...
That's enough for now. I'm sure the novelty of using this blog will wear a bit thin, but I'm enjoying it for now.
Oh, I've got a local SIM card now, so if you want to text me, the number is +66811387338
Ciao
Chris
