Europe 2011
Today I visited Gibraltar. A place of legends and intrigue and spies and all manner of adventure. What I found was tourists. Thousands of them. And shops selling all manner of tourist. And yes I know that I was one of them, but it is awfully difficult to find the historic Gibraltar when you are fighting your way through hoards who are only interested in finding the cheapest duty free.
I finally found my way to a very nice peaceful church where I was able to light a candle for my dear Godmother and Aunt, Hazel Shallala, who I received word had died at 3am Sydney time at the wbkonderful age of 98. So I will have memories of Gibraltar that are perhaps tinged with sadness.
I did enjoy our visit to the Barbary apes. They are very sweet.
