The next morning I went on a dolphin kayaking tour.I met some lovely girls on the trip and soon after departing on the seas a large group of dolphins swam past us.We grabbed each others kayaks so we didn't drift apart and watched them surfacing out of the water and catching fish - It was amazing to watch. After seeing the dolphins we went back to shore for tea and tamtams (penguin biscuits but with more chocolate J).To finish the trip we paddled out again to catch the waves which shot us back to shore very quickly! (me and Lorna excelled on riding the waves!!)That evening was another cheeky monkey outing meeting up with the girls from the kayaking tour and some from my hostel before crashing out VERY tired in bed.
The next few days we had monsoon like weather with frequent heavy downpours and strong winds.I used the time gained from the bad weather to sort out the rest of my trip with a travel agent and spent my first night in.I was very glad of the rest but me and my friend Ruth still managed to stay up till late watching a movie. The day before I left I wanted to make the most of the day so instead of keeping in from the rain I went up to the lighthouse again. On the way up I watched the surfers taking advantage of the weather, picking up tips for when I braved it.Because of the choppy weather I didn't manage to see any whales but I saw lots of dolphins looking like they were having as much fun as the surfers jumping over the waves.I group of us went out that evening to the nightclub Cocomangos for goodbye drinks and I felt sad to be leaving Byron as I has made lots of great friends and I loved the town, but I couldn't extend my stay any longer then I already had otherwise I wouldn't have been able to go Brisbane. Before leaving Byron I went to the Sunday markets.Their markets are amazing, incredibly big selling things from jam to didgeridoos.Unfortunately I was unable to get a photo because it was raining too hard.I then got my bus to Brisbane and feeling extremely exhausted and fell asleep well for part of the journey, something I can never do!I was quite glad of the thought that I would have a couple days for recuperation in Brisbane as city hostels are quite impersonal and so more difficult to make close friends and I could then have a few days to myself. The bus was late arriving so that evening I stayed in with the rest of the hostel and a girl I me ton the bus from one of my previous hostels and watched TV.I was so tired that evening I went to bed at 10 in a 10 share dorm, with the lights on and still chatting and fell asleep instantly.
My second to last day in Brisbane flew past.I'm glad I stayed longer in Byron because Brisbane is like London but much, much worse.Apart from the extensive food courts the shops were pretty bad so I didn't stay long and headed down to the botanical gardens. They were not as pretty as Sydney's but gave me a chance to shut my eyes for a while in peace.Later on whilst walking around the gardens I saw a huge lizard which had just popped out the pond and lots of tiny geckos running around.I love how there are these little sanctuary's in the middle of town where people can just come to get away for a while. I then tried to follow a map with tourist attractions on route but the buildings were so poor and nothing special I gave up pretty soon and only 1 photo of a partly decent one - don't ask me what it is though. The rest of the evening was taken up with more rest before my 6am departure back to the beach to the town called Noosa.
