Woke up at 7am for Day 2 of driving, the idea was to leave Ba Be National Park after driving around the lake and head to the city of Tuyen Quang, we had to take a different road from the boys at one point as they were taking a motorbike trail. Unfortunately the road we took was unfinished and a huge digger sat across the road, so after driving uphill on a rocky, muddy road the same width of the jeep itself! We had to turn around and come all the way back down. We were sent the wrong way twice by Vietnamese locals, then luckily the map app on my IPhone started working. Finally we were on our way.. Or so we thought! After a couple hours of driving my credit ran out so the map stopped working. All of our phones were running out of battery, I couldn't find anywhere to buy credit so we just had to put our trust in the Vietnamese people to guide us to Tuyen Quang. When we were finally on the road to the city a steam roller had just happened to break down blocking the road again! Danielle very bravely jumped in the drivers seat and drive along the crumbling mud verge alongside the steam roller so we could continue our journey. 11 hours after leaving the national park in the morning we arrived in Tuyen Quang, the trip should have taken us about 3 hours haha! We drove an additional 30km to a village called Ham Yen where Alex and the guys were waiting at a gorgeous eco lodge, they were relieved we arrived in one piece! After a traditional dinner and exchanging our adventure stories from the day it was bedtime!
