Hey Guys,
Well we are in Ko Chang now and have been here since the 17th. We have been here for about 9 days and we've had an awesome time. Its such a big island compared to koh Samet, but less commercial and a lot cleaner. As it is such a big island there are many resorts around the place, we are staying around the backpackers resort of Lonely Beach. Its a small community but it has everything here, we are staying in a really nice bungalow about 5 mins walk from the beach its really cheap and its owned by a french guy who married a thai women here, they are so friendly and it has a family feel as they have a dog, a parrot (Who deosnt shut up) and a little baby girl who just sleeps in a hamock all day. We could have stayed on a bungalow on the beach but they are seriously basic and the shared abthrooms and toilets are nasty, with quite a long trek to get to so we are happy where we are staying for the same price its on suite. How picky do we sound, but whe you see it you'll understand. Anyway we have been mostly chilling on the beach and getting hammered as ist so easy to fall in to that trap as it so cheap and there are parties on the beach all the time. We been mainly staying at this bar call the treehouse, its literally a wooden bar out in to the water and its massive, its so chilled out in the day you can just lay on the hamocks and listen to chilled out music looking out in to the water and neighbouring islands, really cool, then in the night the place is completely different when the parties are on the music is banging and everyone is jumping around, its well good. We met up with this guy called package, real name andrew, nobody knows why he's called package but he's a funny guy we met in Ko Samet and he came out to join us. We also met these two Swedish sisters from Gothenberg called Jasmine and Sandra, Jurika from Holland and Claire from London. They got here the same time as us so we all hung out with eachother on the beach in the days and met up fpr food or went drinking in the nights, their english was amazing and they have a really funny sense of humour so we all got on, some nights were so funny. One day we rented mopeds, it is so cheap, literally a fiver all day and we went around the whole island going to different waterfalls in the jungle, it was well cool jumping off the rocks in to a river in the jungle and then seeing these waterfalls coming down, really pretty. Although they are not as big as they are around monsoon season as so much rain floods them and then they are meant to be impressive. We stopped off at an elephant sanctury to take photos and feed them, it so amazing to be next to an elephant who is about 10ft and 4 tons and feeding it pineapples, there was little baby one there it was cool to see,so sereal when you see them in real life. Then there was this pet monkey there who was so lively, you could just go up to him and touch him and if you tapped your shoulder he will jump on you, well he seen me coming, and noticed my glasses straight away. he jumped on my back and snatched them off my head and started breaking them in front of me, he was so funny i let him do it and then jumpled on me again and unzipped my backpack with e knowing and started chucking things out looking for food. The cheeky monkey. That was really cool as i have never seena monkey that close before. They are wild in the jungle as well, so some days we would be walking on the road and a few trees next to us would rustle and there would be two monkeys diving about then chewing abit of fruit and staring at us.
Richard one of the guys im travelling with came off his moped behind me, im sure he was trying to pull a skid, (As you do) the backend went out and he had to fall other wise he would have gone in to an oncoming taxi, he was ok apart from a few scrapes, luckily and the bike was ok to, wich he was luck as they would have charged him big time.
Christmas eve, there were loads of parties going on all around the island, it had such a buzzing atmosphere on the beah in the day and the bars were getting ready for the parties in the night with fireshows and setting up speaker systems, alot of the europeans there celebrate Christmas on the 24th so everyone was drinking on the beach and in the sea. Then the night came and it was mad, everybar had deals on drinks and the places were packed and the music was banging it was so cool looking out at the sea with the moonlight then just dancing on the dance floor. We all got very drunk that night and we were all dieing Christmas day, but it was worth it. We had Elephant trecking planned so we were late for that, that was really good, on the back of an elephant in the jungle, we took loads of pics and he even road through water and splashed himself, that was sereal. We did that for an hour then went down the beach to chill out, we made a sandman and played games in the water, we attempted a human triangle but it didnt work. We then went back to get ready for our Crimbo dinner we booked with this restaraunt an English guy owns, he was doing the full works with a prawn cocktail starter, proper crimbo dinner with pigs and blaket with gravy and crimbo pudding with cream, it was expensive but it was nice and a big portion, but not as nice as Mum makes it back home. Once we finished there we went down to the tree house to exchange secret santa presents. We had a 250 Baht limit where it was decided that we had to buy a funny piece of clothing to wear out on Christmas night, well the plans changed where package decided that we all buy eachother something that we want apart from one of the boys Dickie so that he was the only one dressing up. When we all exchanged pressies the joke ended up being on him as one of the girls bought him a dress so it was only dickie in his bikini and Package in his dress, was so funny and some good pictures. Well we drank the night away Crimbo night and just chilled out the next morning on Boxing day. Its wierd as im not feeling Cristmassy at all, maybe because its the first time ive been away for Christmas and im wearing shorts on a beach in December. Although when we had our Christmas dinner the bar was playing Christmas tunes and we all wore out Crimbo hats so the it felt like Christmas. Now we are just chilling on the beach in the day and may watch a movie in one of the bars. We may go and have a night on one of the small islands off Ko Chang tomorrow, we thought it would be a change as it would be really quiet there so it would feel like we are on a desserted island for a night. We will be off on our way to Cambodia on the 28th with a couple of stops before hand so i will let you know how we get off.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all
Misising and loving you all
