Sunday morning dawned and I wasn't feeling too well again. I skipped breakfast and had some yoghurt in our cabin. After brekkie dad went off on the morning excursion to the Ghost City at Fengdu, where we had only just arrived after steaming all night. It turned out that the cable car which was meant to take everyone up to the temple was not running as the tourist season is already over! So they all walked up the equivalent of some 300 steps to the top and back! Well, all except the two heavy smokers from Andover (England) who came back on the bus instead. Dad made it all the way and took a few photos of this rather weird place which has its roots in the myths and legends of China, and was mostly about the spirit world and devils and stuff. They arrived back around 10:45 and I slept for a while while they were away. I managed to eat a little rice and chicken for lunch and then we sailed through the remaining two gorges through the next couple of hours. The middle one is the most spectacular and there have been many famous photos taken of it (probably none of ours though!) and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Around 4pm I decided that enough was enough and went to the ship's doctor. He gave me some tablets for the trots, and some vials of medicine for my stomach. The medicine worked wonders and I was really starting to feel a bit better by dinner time! I ate a little carefully but everything seemed to be on the improve! In the late afternoon we had had a rehearsal of a song that the kiwis had put together for us all to perform that night in the farewell cabaret show! It was really quite clever and was to the tune of Rockin' Robin (arrgh!). After dinner we had a bit of a break until the show started at 8:30pm. It was really very good! All of the staff on the ship played some role. Whilst mostly they just demonstrated period costume of the various dynasties, one particularly amazing performance was staged by a girl from reception and a waiter and they sang a love song together which really brought the house down and would have been well received in any venue at home! They really could sing! OUr perfromacne went very well and our tour leader, Grace, was really thrilled as we paid particular tribute to her. She also managed to sing a song with the help of another member of the crew and I won't say too much about that other than that it was a good thing the other girl could sing! (Sorry Grace, if you read this!). I had a couple of beers and was feeling quite good by the end of the night. Whilst it felt a little sad to be finishing this part of the trip, we all really were looking forward to getting back to a decent hotel and to internet availability! We went to bed around 10:30pm.
