Hi all,
So we left the Perhentians nice and early, heading towards the Thai border. We hopped into a taxi for 80baht (1.50 pounds) for an hours drive to the border. We went trhough no problems and got our stamp for Thailand. Then we went on the hunt for an ATM as we had no Thai currency and found a minibus heading to Hat Yai. That was a 4hr trip! We arrived in Hat Yai just in time for food and to catch the next minibus (another 3hrs) to Krabi.
The minbuses were ok actually as they were aircon and it gave us the chance to see real Thailand and see the locals coming and going on their motorbikes. We saw lots of schoolchildren riding motorbikes in their uniforms, some had 3 poeple on them-all drinking from their 7/eleven cups.
We finally arrived in Krabi after a 13hr journey and found a place to crash easily enough. We spent the next day browsing around Krabi and booked our onward journey to Koh Lanta. There isn't that much to do in Krabi itself, so we spent most of the day going from one free internet cafe to another before watching Australia in a bar. Chris was not impressed with the Hollywood-ised trife of it. I, however, quite enjoyed it. Go Drover!!
That's Krabi in a nutshell really. Not that exciting, but a necessary stop-off. We could have headed to the beaches, but were keen to crack on.
