Ok, I'm not going to lie to you, we're a little behind on the blog and are actualy in Australia now. But I'll do my best to catch up...
We caught the bus to Seam Reap early in the morning from Batambang and it only took about 4 hours to get there. When we arrived at the bus depot we braced ourselves for what we predicted to be the biggest, craziest circus of tuk-tuk drivers, scrambling outside the bus trying to bag a customer. But what actually happened was they locked the gates and only let in a few (probably selective) drivers and kept loads of them outside trying to shout through to get our attension. But we already had a courtesy pick up from the guest house that we booked, he had our names on a card and everything.
Rosie Guesthouse was great, very comfortable and run by Brits, they had some great stuff on the menu too, pies and Cornish pasties! which made me very happy.
We had 7 nights in Seam Reap, and our first job was to check out some cheaper accomodation, I wish we could have stayed there but it was a bit pricey for us. Especially after finding out that the travel money budget was now used up with 5 weeks to go! Uh oh.
We had 3 days to kill before we hit the temples, which was mostly spent mooching around the markets and trying out the many restaurants and cafes.
We bought some good stuff at the markets, I got a large rucksac in anticipation of all the extra things we'd be lugging out of here, one of which was an impresive, far to big, Buddha head carved out of wood that will hopefuly look cool in our new place in Oz.
Now going back to the travel budget dissapearing, we made a big decision to go to Australia early and skip Indonesia altogether. After Louise doing her awesome organising online for flights and accomodation we planned our new arrival date for Dec 12th.
Louise in her awesomness found us a flat to ourselves for a month while the Irish couple living there go home to their families for Christmas.
So with everything falling into place nicely we were off to the temples.

nicola slide Good move to have accomodation prebooked in Siam Reap...I was TERRIFIED when the police started using electrical cattle prods to beat the crowd of tuk tuks back from us..and even then we were grabbed and pulled from every direction!
