Today was a bit of a right off due to our flight to Saigon being scheduled at 4pm.
Casual start to the day, then taxis to the airport at about 1 pm for check in at 2 ish. The flight with AirAsia lasted about 80 minutes, with no hick ups.
Had to get money from an ATM on arrival, the currency is the Dong, with an exchange rate of about 30,000 dong to the pound, crazy!!!!
Got a taxi drive to take us to the main area for backpackers, Pham Ngu and booked in the Hong Thieng Duc for $25 - slightly more than we wanted to pay. Dumped our stuff then headed out to see some of the sites (was now about 7 and dark).
Headed down the road to experience the manic traffic, litterally thousands of mopeds on the road, extremely tighly packed, something that requires to be seen to be believed. Initial fear factor of this crazy traffic confines us to the back packer area (don't laugh unless you have been out there!! HaHa).
Had a few drinks around the Pham Ngu and the Bui Vien area, started talking to a couple lads working at the GO2 bar. One of which had a huge knowledge of English Football, and wanted to glean as much information about Derby County as possible.
The drinking continued, plus the odd game of cards, although this was by no means a 'session'. Returned to the hotel where we had to wake the door staff up (three people appeared to be living/working in the reception!!).
