The one with Universal studios 09/02/10
Ok, so yesterday was a bit of a write off. Being awake for 20 hours finally took its toll and the refreshing 2 hour nap quickly turned into a fully fledged 12 hour sleep. Feeling totally awake this morning, waffles and syrup for breakfast along with a shower each meant that we could get to explore.
Took the metro to Universal City $1.50 (way cheaper than the tube), met a nice lady who worked at universal studios and took us to the entrance and wished us a nice day. From here we took a walk through a series of shops and restaurants just outside of the park (taking in all of the yummy places to eat of course), took some stupid photos and then made our way into the park.
First up - Studio tour. A sneaky peak at many of the famous film and television sets from the last 60 years or so. From Norman Bates' house in Psycho to Wysteria Lane from Desperate Housewives. The tour had snippets from Jaws, War of the worlds and a King Kong 3d ride. All in all, thumbs up -very interesting and insightful 45 minutes.
Mummy and Jurassic park rides, Simpsons rollercoaster, Shrek 4D and an animal show (an orang-utan in a towel and shower cap :-)
Lunch - by far the strangest of lunches. A bbq turkey leg. Just picture a chicken leg and times it by about 35 and you have the size of this leg. A lot of meat (Chris obviously had sauce all around his mouth). Luckily we decided to share just the one leg, or it could have ended in tears. Yummy.
Home time - take out dinner from the diner by the hotel. Cheeseburgers and fries (don't say chips in America, only leads to confusion) and a well-deserved chill out evening.
Chris: You cant move for Chinese people. I actually had to ask myself if we were in China or not.
