Chris and Laura do Tonga
We arrived here in North New South Wales, Byron Bay, to be precise after an interesting day on Sunday!
We jumped on a bus at 7.45am for a tour of Hunter Valley - the famous wine region, North of Sydney with 4 random girls! By 10.45am we were sat round a posh table in a winery called Tullochs, sampling our way through whites, roses, reds and desert wines! We learnt a lot about wines and the etiquette of tasting but this deteriorated as the day progressed seeing as we visited 4 vineyards! Our guide was excellent and the group good fun. It was also perfect preparation for the 13hr coach journey to Byron Bay that night!
Needless to say the journey was great - we slept all the way! When we arrived here we had a bit of shock though, following the awesome 'Wake Up' hostel in Sydney. Our hostel is like something straight out of the 60's! It's psychadelic and full of hippies! There are a few normal people like us too looking equally overawed! We are sleeping in ' The Wagon' which is pretty much a glorified shed! But really it's fine- we have a bed and a locker! It's the first place we've both stayed that you don't even have a key to your room!
The beaches here are beautiful - so we spent Monday chilling out in the sun!
Today we hired a car......................a pink car - much to Laura's delight! Whats worse - Chris had to drive from the rental store wearing a pink t-shirt! Not cool! We took it for a road trip around the Hinterlands taking in the beautiful scenery, mountains, waterfalls and local towns. An awesome day.
Tomorrow we are going up to Brisbane to meet Matt and Laura (our housemates)!
Love Chris and Lauraxx
