After the NYE celebrations, it was back to normal life for me...Ive given up the backpacking lifestyle for a couple of months, due to the convienience of having family out here in Sydney. Im currently in a Subburb called Castle Hill, which is about 40mins from the City...apparently Delta Goodrem lives in the Subburb next to us...Oh my good Lord baby Jesus!!!
Well, seeing as I was gonna be spending a while here, I decided to pace myself regarding the whole sightseeing...was looking forward to chilling out and taking it easy, backpacking can be very tiring...Met up with Ed though for the 5th and final tortuous Ashes Test Match...The SGC was a lot smaller than the MCG obviously, but it was more of a traditional cricket ground and the atmosphere was amazing, seeing as it was Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne's final Test Matches...England duly obliged and handed them victory, but was a great couple of days nonetheless, if only to see the Barmy Army completely showing up the Aussie imitation called the 'Fanatics'...they were reading from Songsheets...!!! Also managed to get tickets to the Twenty20 game too...Judge Jules was on the decks...!!! He did a mix of God Save the Queen...which was God awful...but he's still a legend...!!! Also caught up with my cousin Logan and his mate Pete, and along with Ed, watched the ODI between Australia and New Zealand...so funny, the Aussie crowd were hurling abuse at every NZ fielder...and they had the best banner ive ever seen...a bunch of guys dressed in orange overalls held it up during the lunch break:
Orange Overalls $5
Tickets $45
Catching Stephen Fleming (NZ captain) in bed with a sheep...Priceless
Excellent...!!!
Felt obliged to have a look round Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera house as well...My family came over in 2001 and had a butchers before, but I was really ill that time, so i didnt really take it in, they are pretty iconic and I had a nice stroll around on my own and savoured the atmosphere...accompanied by a Caramel Choc Crunch Thickshake from Baskins...!!!
Seeing as I was here for a while I also made use of my working Visa and worked a few days in Paramatta for a company called AMP...was pretty cool actually...so laid back and the people were really friendly, tho they didnt really seem to care that I was there, so I kinda got anyway with doing next to nothing, apart from listening to my Zen all day.
Managed to catch up with Matt and Ed to do a spot of sunbathing and vollyball perving lol...down at Manly beach, was good to catch up with the guys after a while...They were thinking to leave Sydney earlier than expected so, it would be one of the last times i saw them for about a month or so...I ended up seeing them the following Thrusday as I managed to score tickets to the Big Day Out festival in Melbourne for Australia Day Weekend...Went out with Ed, Matt and Logan down by Darling Harbour...tho I got rejected from most places cos i was dressed inapprporaitely...i was wearing my union jack tshirt...racial...!!! It was an emotional send off, but we had a good laugh...will catch up with them in Cairns around the middle of March
...and, after waking up at 6am, I made my way to the bus terminal to cathc the Greyhoud Coach to Melbourne...for the start of a sleep deprived couple of days...Ive put my journal entry about the Big Day Out in the Victoria folder...
