After 20hours of flying, we finally landed in L.A. I think a few tears ran down my cheeks as Los Angeles appeard under the clouds. We actually made it.
Although it was really muggy due to low clouds and fog, it was so good to finally feel heat again after a ridiculously cold winter I have been hating back home. By the time we got to our hotel, we had already seen some pretty interesting and disturbing sights. Yes this includes seeing a homeless guy squatting (...pooping) butt naked on the side of the road. A bit too much for me to handle at 5.30am but hey, welcome to Downtown Los Angeles! As we had to go via downtown to get from LAX to the Roosevelt, i had seen the not so pretty side of California and it wasnt my favourite place! It was quiet dirty, dead and not how I imagined L.A. at all but once we got into hollywood and drove through beverly hills, the glamorous expectations I had of the city proved to be exactly what I'd hoped. As the Hollywood Roosevelt falls right on Hollywood blvd, I get to experience the hussel of hollywood everytime i step out the hotel. Its incredible and right on the walk of fame with the hollywood sign visible from the entrance. Everything from the lights and shopping to the overall atmosphere of the town is really surreal and amazes me everytime. The hotel is also beautiful with vintage, intricate desgins all up the walls and roof and a pool that i have seen in so many t.v shows and movies (including The Hills!!).
Today we didnt do much, we just got our 'barings' of the place and did a bit of shopping...well i may have spent more than i intended at Victoria Secret and H&M but hey, when in LA right? ;) Ben & Jerrys icecream + starbucks for lunch and a true american 'diner style' dinner at Mels Drive In, its clear to say the food here is too good to resist.
Tomorrow we are going on a tour of Hollywood (the celebrity houses, hollywood sign etc.) and heading down to the Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach to experience some californication :) And Monday we're heading to Universal Studios. So stoked that im finally here and looking forward to the next few days. woohhoo!!
