Casablanca, a major wine region is midway between Valparaiso and Santiago. To check off a few more wineries, we spent the first half of the day at Casa Del Bosque and Viña Matetic. Our original plan was to see a few more vineyards but decided to head to Pomaire in search for handmade ceramic cookware for Andrea. We had no idea that it would be such a busy town! We had no pesos left and there were no ATMs and very few shops would take US$ or credit card. After searching high and low, we found a shop that accepted visa and bought a few dishes.
Pretty much everything on our central Chile to do list was checked off... except for the rooftop at The W in Santiago. Disappointed to find out that the rooftop restaurant was now closed, they were kind enough to take us to the roof and let us enjoy the city view. The lounge was funky and cool so we stayed for cocktails and mini empanadas.
Somehow we crammed everything that we acquired into our luggage and went to sleep for a few hours before our early flight back to Costa Rica.
It was a wonderful trip!!
