Hi Guys well i survived train train train!! 4 days with no shower, instant noodles and close sleeping quarters, But the scenary along the way was truely breathtaking! Russia in winter is so beautiful. Our group is a little bigger now we have joined forces with another group doing a simular tour but they started in Moscow, Claire and James a couple from Melbourne, Alex from Perth and Tiril from Norway i think i forgot to say before Helen is from London and Jordan is from York! So 4 days ago we crossed into Siberia the coldest we have suffered so far is - 20 i think but has been a more constant -16, which is just stupidly cold! 2 days ago we left the train in Irkutsk and met our new honchos Dimitri and Anatoli, then took a bus for 1 hour to bring us to Lake Baikal the deepest lake in he world, and at this moment in time is completely frozen over a metre thick with ice! We did a 2 hour hike but were blessed with great views, on the wat back we got chance to walk on the lakes frozen surface!!! Then back at the hotel our honchos took us for a russian sauna! Its an expierance! You sit in a roasting hot sauna then you get beaten with birch sticks then have to run outside and rub yourself down with snow lol! Yesterday we visited a bazaar and then my favourite activity to date we went dog sledding through th forest around the lake! We got to drive!! Awesome! We did another huge walk and took a ski lift to a high viewpoint just as he sun was about to set! Walking back the sky was so clear and there are so few street lights you could see every star in the sky! This place has to be one of the most naturally beautiful places i have ever been! This afternoon we leave and go back to Irkutsk to fill our boots before we get back on the train for 2 nights and 1 day which will take us over the Russian border into Mongolia, Ulaanbataar to be precise! So that will be my next update hopefully!! xxxx

Nan Sounds crazy but magical. Don't know about the crowded space - and no shower! Take care. xx
Jamie Sounds fantastic Lora x
Paul B Wow - I can well imagine the awesome landscape, that's just up my street - I was wondering about the very low temps Lora - how easy is it to keep warm (inside and out). When you get to Mongolia I want to know if you've eaten Buuz or Khuushuur - keep the updates coming and go steady on that ice.
