We were very excited to be in LA, and finally got to our very central hostel opposite the Chinese Theatre! We walked along the stars and saw the hand and foot prints before getting a huge pizza slice and treating ourselves to the cinema and popcorn. The next we walked through the Kung Fu Panda premiere before starting our tour on the trolley bus to all the famous sites - Hollywood sign, Hollywood and various studios including Paramount, Nickelodeon etc. To be even more touristy we did a tour of Beverly Hills, seeing the stars houses (including Tom Cruise, Elvis, Ringo Star and even Simon Cowell) and Rodeo Drive. We then jumped on a bus to Venice Beach where we walked along the front and saw the sunday drummers; we also visited Nestle Toll house for cookies before Johnny Rocket's diner. We started our tour early the next and out of the eleven other people, two were from our Asia tour! Passing back up through Hollywood, we then travelled through the desert to our campsite by the Colorado river. We had our first night of camping (and millie was on the cook team!). Woke up the next day in the boiling heat of the desert and set off for the Grand Canyon on Route 66, arriving at lunch. We walked along the rim, amazing at how unreal it looked and saw hundreds of over-friendly squirrels. We went into the Canyon a little way before settling to watch the sunset with champagne, cheese and biscuits. At 4 the next morning we rose to watch the sunrise, in our sleeping bags which was worth it despite the clouds. Before the drive to Las Vegas cherry went on a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. We arrived to a very nice hotel room, but had a quick turn around; everyone got excitedly dressed up for the long awaited limo drive (in the earth bus!). We started at the sign, and then it took us along the strip - seeing the hotels such as the Luxor, Caesars and Paris. The next day was long and tiring as we walked along the strip all day, we rode the New York New York roller coaster and shopped at the Venetian as if in Venice. That evening we walked back along the strip at night and watched the Bellagio fountains and Treasure Island show. We were really sad to leave Vegas, and headed off on our longest drive to Yosemite where we set up camp and cooked smors over the camp fire in preparations for an early start the next day. With bags full of food, we trekked up the John Muir trail to Nevada Falls where we had lunch looking over the most amazing valley views. We walked back down a steep rockey path and got soaked walking down passed Vernal Falls. Shattered and dirty, we fell asleep in the reception of the really posh Ahwahnee Hotel surrounded by two weddings. We met the rest of the group later for pizza and toasted marshmallows as it was our last night together. The last day with the group we drove to San Francisco, where we drove across the golden gate bridge and sadly said our goodbyes to the group. Just the two of us spent the next day exploring the city - travelling the hills on the tram, visiting Lombard street and walking around Fishermans wharf, seeing hundreds of sea lions at Pier39 and also went in chocolate shops! We had diner at Boudin in Macys where we had soup in a bread bowl. After a very tiring but great day of shopping we spent the next morning visiting Alcatraz - our last day of sightseeing!
Now we're about to go to the airport for our final flight back home!!! see you soon!

Valea I definitely need to read The Time Traveler's Wife. So many pelope have mentioned it here! I have to confess, I tried to watch the movie and couldn't really get into it, but I have a feeling the book will be different and probably much better. I think REVOLUTION is probably the best time travel book I've read, though there was really so much more to it than that. I recommend it if you haven't already read it!
