He had to hire a porter to get our luggage to town across that sand. When we arrived, we landed right on the dock of our hostel but to go back we left from town.He carried them in a wheelbarrow.Quite a task. Our hostel here was amazing (Aquario) and the island is a must see.A week here would not be too long.2 days was definitely too short.Ah well….off to Paraty.A rather full boat to Angra Dos Rios and we have to rush to find the bus to Paraty. Not many English speaking people here so this is not an easy task. With some help from a passerby bicyclist and we hop on the cramped local bus 5 minutes before it departs.Slept most of the 2 hour trip so it wasn't too bad.Paraty is a small beach town about half way between Rio and Sao Paulo. After we got in our room (Misti Chill) we walked to the center square to find a bank and purchase our bus tickets to Sao Paulo. The square is nice - no cars allowed here and the streets are cobblestone. After we got what I believe are 2 of the the last 4 tickets on the bus we went off to the beach. There is a beach right in front of the hostel but the guy from the hostel recommended one down the road.UUUUPPPPP a hill and the DDDOOOWWWNN a hill. The beach was ok but I didn't notice anything different from the other. The water was disgusting though.Covered in slime - it stuck to you when you got out.Had a beer with a nice older couple from Rio and then went back to the other beach.Although it wasn't the cleanest, it was better than the last.Had another beer on the beach and then we had probably the best meal we've had in Brazil. It was a grilled fish (like a sturgeon with no bones) and these amazing potatoes.Back to the room and just sat outside drinking and chatting with a guy from Germany. It was a nice day but Paraty isn't as nice as I thought it would be.
