It's Wednesday morning at about 6 am.(2 am for most of you), 2nd full day in Brazil. The trip getting here was long with lengthy layovers but the flights weren't bad.The worst layover was in Sao Paulo waiting to go to Iguazu Falls.I think it was about 8 hours and soooooooooooo long!Got to our Hostel at around 5 and we were exhausted so we didn't make any plans for the 1st night. The Hostel is nice with a great garden area.Met a nice couple from Australia also staying here at Pousada da Laura.
Tuesday morning we took off for the falls on a tour.We went to the Argentina side.It was amazing! Our tour was with 2 couples from Germany, a couple from Canada and a guy from California. There are a lot of different walkways to get different views. The walks are nice and easy for the most part.We started at a point across from the falls and it was pretty wet! Then it started raining (pouring!).This is the largest fall and pretty spectacular.Kristy went a little nuts with photos. We had the camera wrapped in a ziplock bag so some photos have a shot of the bag but it was drenching there!A little more crowded than I expected here as it is off-season.I can't imagine high season here.A little more walking across slippery metal walkway and then we took a train to top of the falls were you see more of the quantity of falls. There are nearly 200!After lunch we walk the lower part of the falls and take 10 gazillion steps to the bottom for our boat ride.A quick 10 minute trip that takes you UNDER the falls. It was pretty cool and you certainly can't get a more "up close and personal" view! Now for the s***ty part….back UP those 10 gazillion steps!Yes it practicly killed me but it was worth it.Iguazu Falls is gorgeous and tomorrow we'll go visit the Brazilian side.About 20% is on Brazil side and 80% on Argentina so we saw the larger portion today.A full day and back at the lodge around 6:30 PM.We went to dinner with the couple from Australia.Dinner was WAY too pricey and certainly not in our budget (or theirs) but it was recommended by the hostel. It was good but?The company was great. It was an awesome start to our vacation.
Check out Kristy's site cuz she is keeping up on blogging way more than me.I'm busy drinking my Caipirinhas!
