So we're now at the end of our trip. I can't believe it's gone so fast! Nothing much has happened the last couple of days, as we've been at sea. It's given me a chance to use the balcony as a reading nook which has been really relaxing. We've also had our second formal night which included the traditional Bombe Alaska parade in the dining room (sooo yummy!) and a ventriloquist as entertainment who was incredibly funny (and a Melbournite which gave him extra points).
Tonight was the other tradition of the cruise, the International Crew Show where brave crew members showcase their (mainly singing) talents. Plus there was another tradition, a performance of "If I Were Not Upon the Sea", a song which culminated in our deputy cruise director (who looks uncannily like Matt Lucas) wearing a tutu and singing that he would like to be a ballerina if he wasn't cruising. It's the third cruise on which I've seen them performing that song, and it's still hilarious every time.
And that's about it. I've had a fantastic time, and am really glad I came, despite this area not being on my "to do" list. My absolute favourite thing that I did was the time in the village in Savu Savu. The people were lovely (though they really were everywhere in Fiji) and the scenery beautiful. The most stunning scenery was definitely at Dravuni Island - they certainly saved the best till last. I also enjoyed Noumea, as I felt like I was really able to get out there and explore, mostly because of the Westernised infrastructure (that almost sounds like a bad thing!).
So that's it. Holiday over for now. Looking forward to getting home to my cat (ok and the rest of my family) and friends. I hope you've enjoyed reading this, and keep your eyes peeled for my Antarctica blog, coming soon!
