Today was very long. Up at 3am to get to the airport for a 7.30 flight (thanks Citylink for doing all of your maintenance NOW, right in the middle of Christmas holidays!) but Mellie, Robyn, Adam and I got there on plenty of time (even managed to grab a good coffee and hash brown before we left).
We were taken by bus from Sydney airport to the a White Bay Cruise Terminal where there was nothing to do but wait or catch a taxi back to the city-the terminal is in the middle of nowhere-so we waited.
Bit of back story... We all got an email last week saying there had been an outbreak of gastro on the previous cruise so they needed to do a full clean down of the ship. That was fine, and I would much rather they do that than not! But it meant our cabins wouldn't be able to board until 3.30pm. We had arrived at the terminal at 10.30am. I think we were all so tired that nobody could be bothered to go anywhere, so we checked in then sat and waited.
As it turned out, we had checked in so early that we were some of the first to be able to board. By about 1pm we had found our adjoining cabins (which were still being cleaned) and were wandering around the ship getting heaps of great photos of the Harbour Bridge from the ship, all without other people in them.
As more people started boarding, we went back to our cabins until the emergency drill, after which it was time for the sail away party back on deck. I caught up with the other group I know on this cruise (two of my Girl Guides and some of their family), and then the four of us lounged around on deck for a while before going back to cabins before dinner.
You forget just how good the food is on these ships, and I wasn't disappointed today! Spring rolls, salad and seafood parcels - yummy!
And then, as incredibly boring as it sounds, we went to bed. I know I was exhausted and I'm sure the others were the same.
Let me say though, I love cruising, and if you've never done it before you really need to try it!
