It was so cold this morning, it was a good job we doubled up on our furry throws! It was horrible climbing out of bed, as soon as the cold hit me I desperately needed a pee, I'd already been during the night! That was horrible too, that's got to be one of my least favourite things about hostels, not having your own bathroom. It kinda reminded me of when I lived at home and slept in the garage. I would wake up needing the toilet but would have to run outside the front of the house and through the front door just to get to it. Not nice in the middle of freezing bloody winter!
We got up and went into the kitchen to make our breaky, then we warmed up in front of the fire. It wasn't cold for long, by 10am the sun was high in the sky and it was lovely and hot. We decided to go into town by walking along the beach this time. As we walked we could feel the suns hot rays beaming down on us, I wanted to get to town and back as soon as possible so I could lay in it.
When we got to town we passed another travel agents called Indie Travel. Chris noticed a cheaper deal on a board outside for Fraser Island and Whitsunday's tour, we thought we had better check it out before booking in Tribal Travel. The agent explained that the deal was based on day tours but then said he could offer us a better or cheaper deal than Tribal anyway. It was obvious he was just finishing his breakfast so we said we would get a coffee and come back in ten. Not wanting to lose a sale he offered to buy us our coffees just so we came back. Of course we didn't turn down his free coffee offer and went for two large expensive hot choccys instead.
We went through the itinerary with him and he waffled on for ages about the tours and himself. He was very helpful and friendly but he was also eating up my sunbathing time! I looked at Chris's watch which made him suddenly speed things up. He was actually a lot more helpful and honest about the trips than the lady in Tribal Traval, he told us about all the extra costs for the trips like park fees and taxes that she didn't mention to us. He also sold a better day trip to the Whitsunday's on a cataraman instead of a speedboat and the Fraser Island tour was also a smaller group and went from Hervey Bay instead of Rainbow Beach so we wouldn't waste time driving further to get there. We agreed to book the trips with him as he did a price match for us and it included better trips. I found out after we left that Chris lied to him about the price so we got it even cheaper than what we should have! Chris told him all the trips were included in the price but one wasn't so it saved us another $100 each! All together we got a three day, two night Frasier Island tour with a night in a hostel either side of the trip, a one day Whitsunday's trip on a cataraman boat, a two day, two night Magnetic Island tour and a one day Cape Tribulation tour (which wasn't included in the other price) for $582 each! We can't wait to go on them!
We paid for the trips and used the free Internet in there, then walked down and booked the Greyhound bus from Byron Bay to Surfers Paradise leaving tomorrow at 2pm. On our way back to the beach we walked past a lady giving out free pizza slices! Suddenly our diet didn't exist for the next two minutes!
Back on the beach we started to walk back. There were lots of dog walkers on the beach and I mean lots! The dogs were very friendly and all the owners cleaned up after them, the beach would be disgusting if they didn't. We walked into the sea to find out how cold it was, it was freezing so decided we wouldn't be getting in today.
When we got back to the hostel we made a tuna salad and a cup of coffee each and took them down to the beach to have lunch there instead of indoors. Chris moaned about it until we were sitting on the sand eating in the sun, then he realised it was a nice idea of mine. We sun bathed for a few hours while listening to music playing on the ipod speakers, Chris would never had lasted so long without the music. Eventually he got bored so he decided to wander to a nearby petrol station to buy tea bags. He also went so he could steal some more sugar sachets from the coffee machine as we were running low lol. When he came back he was holding two hot choccy's, just what I needed because it was starting to get cold as the sun began to set. We finished our drinks, packed up and headed back over to our room.
We'd had a lazy day today so we decided to go for a run along the beach before the sun had fully set. We finished jogging just in time! The tide was coming in really quick on our way back along the beach that we almost had to go back via the street behind! It was hard running on the soft sand, I complained half the time so was glad when we had to go back.
For tonights dinner we had another salmon salad which was really nice. Chris really likes them, he reminds me every time we eat it now lol. We paid for two hours of Internet so we could book accommodation in Surfers Paradise tomorrow, we ended up finding a really good deal for an apartment so we are both looking forward to that, it should be really nice having so much space all to ourselves. For the rest of the evening we sat up and watched Simpsons and Family Guy on tv before going to bed, it was nice sitting by the fire again and thank god those hippies weren't playing their dumb guitar this time!
