Victoria Peak.
Well we didn't make it to Lamma Island today, the weather was chilly and I wasn't sure what I should wear after people staring at my chest all the time, plus I didn't sleep well last night. We thought it would be a good idea to leave the window open instead of having the air con on but the noise of cars and the pedestrian crossings kept me awake! The crossings blare an annoying continuous dinging sound when it's safe to cross and ding in time to the count down when it's not.
Instead we went to the ladies market again! I got to buy new vests, t shirts, a dress and a really warm hoodie for when we visit colder places. It all came to only £24! (But took three hours to buy).
We both grabbed a smoothie for breakfast, it wasnt easy choosing because nothing was in English so we didn't know what was in them. I asked for a vegetable smoothie which was ok, it tasted like sweet celery. Chris pointed at the biggest one already on display, he still doesn't know what was in it, I think it had beans and yoghurt. He liked it anyway.
So after going back in and getting changed we made our way to Mong Kok station where we caught a train to Central station. It was really easy to get about, it was similar to being on the London Underground.
When we got out of Central Station we just had to follow the Peak Tram signs to buy our tickets. It was so easy to get around, all the signs were in English and most people spoke English. We bought tickets to stand on the highest view point called the Sky Terrace.
We only waited a couple of minutes for the tram to arrive, when it did it was on a slanted angle. We rushed on with all the other people and sat down. As the tram began to move we noticed there was a cab at both ends, I guess this was because there was only one tram and it's just one straight track. When we left the tram stop we felt our weight push harder into the back of our seats. We were now travelling at a 35 degree angle up to the peak! It was very strange, it felt like we were going up on a roller coaster and were waiting for the moment when we went over the top!
We were surprised when we reached the top. There were two huge shopping malls and lots of restaurants and coffee shops, it was really nice. The sky was clear of clouds so we got great views of the city and harbour during the day, we also wanted some photos at night so we spent the whole day up there. We spent hours walking around the shops, drinking hot chocolate and eating muffins. We also had a really nice lunch in one of the restaurants with views of the harbour.
We took one last walk around the shops while the sun began to set. Chris almost bought me a ring (not that sort of ring, just a birthday one) but we think they were over priced up there so might look in one of the shops back in the city.
It started to get cold and windy as it got darker so we didn't stay on the terrace for long. The night views were even better than the day.
The tram back to the city felt even more weird going down than up. This was because we were travelling backwards at a 35 degree angle.
When we got back to our room my feet were really aching from all the walking and both of us were still full from lunch so we didn't have dinner, we just went straight to bed.
