Shouldn't of drunk rum and coke before going to sleep last night, I literally had to sprint to the toilets holding my crutch! Luckily I made it in time but had to waddle in holding my knees tight together!
We decided to sleep in a little later this morning, we ended up waking to the sound of the breakfast drums. We went down and said good bye to Chin Chin and her friend. We gave her some manta ray photos in exchange for some information on Malaysia.
After breakfast we went back and got ready for sunbathing on our beach. Chris lasted an hour listening to music before he began moaning like a child that he was bored so I took him snorkelling. We swam over to the octopus again and teased him for a bit trying to get a good photo of him. Another hour later Chris was moaning that he was cold! I went back and sunbathed on my own until lunch time while Chris wrote up some of his diary, probably playing his war game though.
At lunch Rene gave us some chocolate and drink sachets and a few extra handy little bits that she didn't want to keep. We ate the chocolate straight away! Chris always told me he doesn't like dark chocolate but he still ate it! He did end up giving me most of it though.
We said good bye to Rene, Clay and Marco then went back to our bure to chill out on our decking and hammock. It was great seeing the mantas yesterday so we planned to swim out and look for them again today. We had to swim out later today as high tide changes daily by an hour and that's the best time to see them, so the staff say. So at 3:30pm we went for a cup of tea then grabbed some fins at 4:30pm and started swimming out. The current was very strong and quite hard to swim in. We looked around but couldn't see anything. I spotted a small white tip reef shark but no mantas. It was still a great swim though, I was amazed looking down at all the fish eating the plankton. They swam in synchronised patterns creating streams that linked into one another. Suddenly I realised we were slowly being pushed through the channel, at one point I thought we might not be able to swim back through it and would have to make our way back to shore via the other beach.
I looked at Chris and he asked me if I was ok? Neither of us said it but we both knew we wanted to swim back against the current and not be beaten by it. So we started pushing and gradually meter by meter we made it to the beginning of the channel again. We had to keep up our pace otherwise we would have easily been swept back through again. After an hour of constant swimming we both started to get bored so we decided to make our way back. We had another twenty minutes of continuous swimming against the current before we made it back to our beach. I turned to check on Chris who was a few meters behind me and asked if he was ok? He said he was but just a but tired. We couldn't see the bottom so it was hard to tell if we were moving at all, only when I saw the setting sun suddenly appear from around some rocks I then knew we were getting somewhere.
Once we were on the beach Chris told me he got stung by a jelly fish on the way back and that was the real reason why he slowed down, he said it it bloody hurt so we went to a member of staff to see if they had any vinegar to put on it. I offered to pee on him but he kept refusing lol. Chris must of swum straight into it, obvious tentacle marks starting from his shoulder wrapped under his armpit then stretched along his side and onto his back! The markings were already red and beginning to raise into bumps.
Afterwards we headed back and I went for a shower, Chris had to wait at least fifteen minutes before he could have one. He had to wait for the vinegar to work otherwise the fresh water would have made it worse. I offered to pee on Chris again but he still refused lol.
It was quiz night tonight but neither of us wanted to stay up and talk, so we sat on a bench on our own then snuck straight off to bed afterwards. Chris's sting started to itch him a bit so I offered him some cream this time but being the way he is he didn't want to accept any help so I rolled over and went to sleep.
