Week 5- Vietnam (Da Nang) Day 3
So words can't explain how tired we are today. We had a really long night because our flight was delayed until 7.20am after we had got up at 2am thinking we were departing at 5.20. When we arrived at the airport it wasn't even open! Travelling has made us come to the conclusion that English people are very well mannered! A lot of people in Vietnam have been so rude when it comes to queuing etc. I don't think queuing even exists other here as they all blatantly walk straight in front of you and barge past!
After getting agitated by little sleep and the people pushing past us, we then had to go through security. This was HILARIOUS as Gemma had to put her bag through the scanner 3x, each time she got more and more annoyed and I laughed harder! It turned out to be her flip flops in her bag they clearly thought it was a gun! We had a long wait in the departure lounge, I managed to sleep a little and Gemma read her book. We finally reached our hostel by about 9am!
We had booked into a mixed dorm but we were so exhausted we upgraded to a private room because we were just desperate for some good sleep. Luckily we were allowed to check into our room early. Although, it wasn't the nicest of rooms and didn't appear very clean. It didn't seem worth the amount we were paying as it was one of the most expensive rooms we have had. So Gemma soon had something to say to them and we got a refund of $12, good work Gemma!
We headed out for breakfast as we were starving. I felt really ill and had bad stomach cramps so thought food might help. The hostel advised us to go to Bread of Life cafe. It was a bit of a mission and I thought I was going to die by the time we got there, I felt awful. When we got there we realised it was a cafe ran by people who were deaf so obviously I found this really cool. I love watching people sign, I think it is an incredible language. It was a top cafe on trip advisor too! Gemma had a fry up and I had pancakes both with a good old mug of English tea! Although, the food made me feel worse so I didn't eat it all! We have both had poorly stomachs the past few days! We headed straight back to our hostel and pretty much fell straight to sleep! We both slept for around 4hours. We both felt a lot better afterwards so I think it was exhaustion!
We wanted to stay local for food so the hostel recommended another place to us. When we got there we were a bit unsure, it was like eating dinner in someone's kitchen! Nonetheless it was really cheap and they just sold noodles so we decided it couldn't be too horrendous. We both ordered chicken noodles... Neither of us even tried the chicken, it was such a peculiar colour! The noodles them self were not to bad and we had a big plate of prawn crackers so we were happy girls! We headed back, had a shower and both went straight back to bed. Well this was the plan anyway... Until I opened my rucksack to find my brand new super bubbly shower gel had completely burst all over my stuff and I mean it was EVERYHERE! Gemma found this absolutely hilarious.. I ended up washing the whole bag out, luckily it was my day rucksack rather than my main one! So I spent a good half an hour filling the bathroom with bubbles trying to wash it out of a number of items! I was worried the bag was never going to dry because it was soaking! I think we can say this was our first travelling crisis and a very funny one too! We then had a bit of a silly half an hour.. I think the exhaustion had got to us! We sat doing a shadow show on the wall with the lamp and found it highly entertaining! after a bit of reading on our kindle apps we fell asleep!
