We had a very early start at 5am to see the sunrise over Salar de uyuni, and headed over to the flat to get prime seats for the sunrise! It was very very cold but we persevered and the views were worth it. Eddie managed to get us a part of the salar that still had water over it so the sunrise was amazing as it reflected in the salt lake.
After the sunrise we headed over to a small island in the middle of the salt flat where we ate breakfast. It was covered in cacti so afterwards we spent an hour or so walking around it and getting some incredible views of how vast the salt flat is. Then we drove out to a deserted part of the flat and started taking some pictures on the flat, lots of very cliche photos playing with perspective!
Later we went to the first salt hotel in the salar, then over to a small town on the outskirts to have a walk round and see our first glimpse of Bolivian people, complete with the women in their traditional dress.
We then went over to the town of Uyuni where the tour finished. Eddie took us to the train cemetery where they had abandoned the trains after much of the mining in the country finished, where we had our last lunch together. He dropped us off in Uyuni and luckily we managed to get on a bus to Potosi straight away!
