Arrived in Queenstown after a fantastic couple of days in Wanaka, perhaps the best place we have been so far could have very easily spent longer there. Anyway to Queenstown we went, and when we got there, we were surprised by how small it was, the best way to describe it is, by saying it is just like a ski town, filled with après ski bars and things, all very close and packed together. We booked ourselves in for 5 nights and booked ourselves our bungy, then wasted no time and got ourselves geared up for our first night out in the big Q. To cut a long story short, we all woke up the next morning not having a clue what had happened, Dom and I had lost Jules in all the chaos, and stumbled our way home via a place called Fergburger (will come back to that later). Anyway we woke up the next morning with low and behold an extra set of legs poking out of Jules' bed! So Dom and I took a closer look and upon closer inspection we saw Nella a girl who lives in Jules' village, she had been locked out of her room, so Jules' had offered her sanction.
The Bungy jump! Was insane, it was one of the most blood rushing experiences I have ever had. We were all sent out first because we had the heaviest person in our group of three out of everyone there, prices for the person who can guess who that was. So they sent us out in a cable car that goes along to the pod that dangles 134m above the valley. In we got and one by one we all took the plunge! Lots of fun and to celebrate, we headed back to Fergburger which in a simple way of describing it, it is a unanimous between the three of us of one of the best things about New Zealand. It is a burger bar which does the best burgers we have ever had in our lives! I can't stress how good they were, they weighed up to a 1lb and a half, and needless to say we had them all the time! On another of the days we went and meet Jules' grandmothers' brother and his wife who took us on a long drive out of Queenstown to get some good views of the 'Remarkables' and thenback to there house for a really nice dinner. The rest of Queenstown consisted of frisby-golf in the park, reading and just hanging around, while in the evenings it was full on with the drink and meeting new girls… Sadly the fun had to end as Queenstown was fast robbing us of all our money, so we headed off for Ashburton. For the last 3 days we have been meeting more of Jules' family, partying with them, and gone hunting for the dreaded possum, of which there are 70 million of in NZ. Finally yesterday we went paintballing as Bruce who we are staying with owns it. I got nailed and have lots of scars where as Dom is fine, coward!
Another quick note in defence of Dom's previous blog, to start with I am not desperate and also I can't help it when the girls come flogging over to me and my gorgeous British accent. And the girls are not no noes; well not all of them, beer goggles have been worn so far this trip….. We start a job tomorrow painting a barn for 4 days and then will look to move on the Christchurch to do a few things there and maybe meet some contacts.
Much Love
Charlie and Dom
