Hello!!
Ok after all the fun of Magnetic Island we headed back over to the mainland and travelled down to Airlie Beach which is where most people go sailing to the Whitsundays but we hadn't planned on doing that due to my unease with boats! and costs. So we planned to spend 3 nights here just chilling by the big Lagoon on the seafront which we did for 3 days and then came the Cyclone warning!! pretty scary stuff, so the warnings kept coming over the TV that Cyclone Hamish was heading down the coast from Cairns headed pretty much straight for us ( don't know if its been on the news over there at all). Anyway we managed to miss 2 busses out of Airlie, and so ended up staying for 5 nights which was ok as they gave us more free meals but then again its a pretty small town and once the Cyclone winds and rain started there wasn't a lot to do!
We finally managed to get out on Sunday morning with our bus driver telling us that there was a 75% chance we'd make it to our next stop and get through the roads before Hamish! Anyway we did and we headed in land a bit to Kroombit Cattle station where the weather wasn't really that bad. Kroombit is a working cattle station, but it was pretty cool1 we got a big old roast dinner when we got there and then the owner taught us all how to crack a whip which we both managed to do, however i got a bit too into it and managed to pull all the muscles in my shoulder and loose a few layers of skin off my hand which really hurt, (this is only the beginning of the injurys). We also got to try this meat ( just me, Leti hasn't caved yet) which we later got told was goat. After the whips we got the chance to ride the mechanical bull, which i did for around 2 seconds!!
The next morning was a very early start, and we went out and people got to do clay pigeon shooting and then we took part in a goat rodeo which was pretty hilarious. After this i went horseriding and Leti went back to the station with some others. We went out on the horses and took part in a goat muster which involved a lot of shouting at the goats and driving them through 3 huge fields on horse back which was so amazing. On the way back though i kind of rode my horse into some trees in a ditch and then 3 horses including mine got spooked so we all got thrown off, although i was partly knocked off by the braches i'd gone into, It must have been pretty funny to watch but it did hurt! Anyway once we got back safely we travelled down on the bus to Rainbow beach which is where we are now! I'm walking around like a bit of an invalid and Leti is laughing at me! weather here is not great and supposedly Hamish will catch up to us tomorrow but we'll just have to wait and see! Hope everyone back home is good and having fun!! lots of Love
