Going up was slow and steady following Joseph. The first part was brown gravel ( the chocolate bit) this bit went on for ages but wasnt too bad. the next part was the steeper a lot steeper this bit was covered in snow in parts. It got harder the higher we went. There were parts with rocks you had to grasp and pull yourself up. Simone wasn't feeling too good so Joseph told the other guide to carry on with me. I felt guilty leaving Simone but I was getting really cold. I continued with martiqua the guide and it was a struggle. He kept giving me water and encouraging me to walk. We reached Gilmore point at 5 am I could have curled up and slept only it was -6. We stopped for spiced tea and I had a chocolate wafer bar ( needed the energy) after 5 mins or so I carried on battling through. Hard work I felt like giving up so many times. But I had come so far. After stopping at Stella point feeling totally exhausted I was near the top. We walked round the crater( real scary right on the edge could have easily slipped off). My guide made sure I didn't. I dragged my legs till my guide pointed to the sign on the other side ( it seemed so far away) I put head down and made my legs get me there. I reached the top at 6:20 am and had my photo took. It was so windy up top I was so cold I knew I had to get down again ( but I felt so mentally and physically drained I didn't think I had the energy for it).
