Hi everyone, got lots to update you on so here's just a littleinsight into what me and lisa have been getting up to..
DAY ONE: Spent most of this day travelling to New York, the flight was really good..lots of free drinks and TWO meals ! Arrived in a very cold New York at about 9.30pm
DAY TWO: After catching up on alot of sleep we headed down to Times Square which was absoloutely amazing ! So many shops and bright lights, and this was just the day time. My personal favourite was the 3 floor M+M store which had about everything you could imagine, with an M+M on it - shower curtains, bowls, t-shirts..too many to name !
We then decide to go to the NY Madamme Tussauds which was a little expensive ($30 WITH vouchers) but very good fun !
Later that night we decided to go BACK to Times Square to see it at night which again was out of this world , then back to the hostel for free pizza night which we definately took advantage of !
DAY THREE: Luckily we had day three all set out with thanks to Miss Sarah Joyce ! - A ferry ticket to visit the statue of liberty and Ellis Island. Took lots of touristy pictures and then headed back to the hostel. After chilling out for a bit and having some tea, we caught the subway to the Empire State building which again was just unbelieveable.
DAY FOUR: Today we had a day at Central Park which was huuuge - took us 3 hours just to walk from one end to the other ! Finally reached the Cebtral Park Zoo where I saw loads of animals i never had done before, like red pandas and POLAR BEARS !
We loved Times Square the first night so much that we decided to go again at night before coming back to the hostel
DAY FIVE: Woke up this morning to see that the sun was shining, and everyone was wearing shorts and t-shirts - bit of a change from the 6 layers we had to wear at the beginning of the week. Today we caught the subway to the Roccafeller Centre which was very posh and had lots of nice shops in it - didnt go to the top as we had already been up the Empire State Building and the pennies need saving ! Treated ourself to a ben + jerrys ice cream before heading down to fifth avenue which was absoloute torture for two money saving backpackers. I found in particularly hard to control myself in the 4 floor Disney shop :/ ..but managed to keep my purse in my bag and not delving in !
DAY SIX: Headed down to Chinatown today which was very busy and very tempting on the wallet yet again! - reminded me a bit of Camden market, just with loads more Chinese people. Spent most of the day there and since the weather was still nice we sat in a park and watched the world go by for about 2 hours, got an early night ready for the journey to LA tomorow
