okay guys, heres the start of the blogg for the week in LA:
DAY ONE: Today we spent most of the day travelling from New York to Los Angeles which was a 6 hour flight. Again, we had games and movies to watch so me and lisa both watched 'THE DARK KNIGHT'.
When we arrived at the hostel we checked in to find out that we would have to be moved into a different room after tonight because of repairs or something. When we walked into the dorm there were two Chinese girls who we were sharing the room with - they were nice but kept themselves to themselves ! Went straight to bed as it was 1.30AM - 4.30AM New York time !
DAY TWO: Was strange waking up this morning and having to get our things together for another check-in ! No surprises that there were MORE complications when it came to allocating us a room . Again, we were told that there were no female dorms available and we would be given a private room for the night. We entered the room to find a huge HDTV, our own shower and toilet, mini fridge, i-pod dock and cable TV, woohoo !
We spent most of the day just wandering round in the sun (about 29 degrees !) and got talking to a few people from the hostel. Just chilled out for the night as we were still catching up from the journey yesterday !
DAY THREE: Very good day today so lots to cram in ! We got moved back to the same 8 bedded female dorm this morning and we had the first choice of which beds we wanted to sleep in and stuff. After having another free pancake breakfastwe headed for the walk of fame which was really weird - thought it was going to be a long strip of the stars but it went down loads of streets in all directions. At the main strip where all the big names were there were loads of people dressed up to take pictures with - the joker from batman, spiderman, wonder woman, snoopy, homer simpson are just a few.
We then found this sort of square that had slabs of concrete with new and old celebrities hand and foot prints - my favourites were bruce willis and marilyn monroe who wrote 'prefer blondes' on hers !
We were then randomly given tickets to 'THE LATE LATE SHOW' filming at the CBS studios so we decided to head down there. They were only filming for about an hour but being in the audience was really funny. The guest on it was an american actress called Julia Drifus who me and Lisa had never heard of..but we were told than the guest on yesterdays show was Gordon Ramsay ! arghh .. thinking our night was over we walked back to the hostel through Hollywood Boulevard where Johnny Knoxville walked straight past us trying to avoid getting recognised. Loved today, probably the best day of the trip so far !
DAY FOUR: This morning we got the free beach shuttle organised by the hostel to Santa Monica. The journey was about a 30 minute drive and we met some really cool people on the bus, but when we arrived we all went our seperate ways. Santa Monica beach was really quiet and peaceful so me and Lisa relaxed by the sea, making the most of the sunshine ! After a while we headed towards the end of the beachand strangely bumped into everyone from the shuttle bus. We all wanted to go to Venice beach so we stuck togetherand made our way down.
Venice beach was very different to Santa Monica - very busy and lots going on - beach sports, surfing and shops. Spent all the day at the beach then made our way back to the hostel on public transport which took about an hour and a half ! After making some tea we headed out with our new friends to try and get into a small bar around the corner - we were successful but couldnt drink alcohol. After an hour or so there we went back to the hostel and had a few drinks on the patio.
DAY FIVE: This morning I woke up and looked in the mirror to see a bright red and very sunburnt face and chest from the beach yesterday, arghh ! We didnt realise how hot it was as it was really windy, big mistake but luckily it wasnt just me - out beach friends also looked like tomatoes !
Today we went on the Beverly Hills walking tour organised by the hostel which was really good fun. The tour guide was crazywhich made it even better. We saw the houses of Ben Stiller, Paris Hilton, Matt Le Blanc, Michael Jackson, Jack Nicholson..then we saw the old ones like Frank Sinatras, Freddie Mercury's, Elvis Presleys - and also the gates to the house where Marilyn Monroe lived and died. We then went to an American Diner for dinner which was surprisingly not too expensive, and met loads more cool people from our hostel.
After dinner we visited Rodeo Drive which was a very famous street full of designer shops. The hilarious tour guide decided we should go celebrity spotting and we managed to see the papparazzi following a woman. When we got up close it was Jennifer Love Hewitt who was absoloutely tiny but really pretty. The street also had the hotel where the film 'Pretty Woman' was filmed which was really cool to see.
We headed back to the hostel on public transport - tired from walking and cahsing celebs ! Back at the hostel there was an a;;-you-can-eat BBQ on the patio for $4 so we decided to go for it (a little over budget today but it had to be done) - I ate so much YUM YUM
After tea we went up to the lounge in the hostel just to chill out for a bit. Caught up with some friends and ended up watching a few films before going to bed.
