I definitely want to make sure I chronicle every aspect of this experience. The next part of the process I have been dealing with is the paperwork process. I completed an online application and then received a phone call to set up a phone interview. I spoke with an awesome recruiter who thought I would be a good candidate for the position. She said it would take a couple days for the process to move forward from that point but to be looking for an email that would state if I was going to be invited to a face to face interview. I received an email stating that I was shortlisted for an interview with Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) roughly 15 minutes after I got off the phone from the interview. I guess the phone interview went well.
Now I just had to wait until ADEC decided on a date for the interview and location. The closest location for me to interview at is in Houston. I received this information in June but delayed getting moving on paperwork as I wasn't completely sure I was ready for a move such as this. This may come back to bite me in the butt though.
During the next couple months, Teach Away reached out to make sure I was getting paperwork completed and that my profile was updated and current on the website. In order to be given a time and location for the face to face interview some documents need to be emailed to Teach Away.
· Color copy of Passport
· Color copy of 4 passport photos
· Completed Health history form
· Current resume (max. length is 2 pages)
- Completed pre-interview form (ONLINE)
Once those documents have been emailed to your contact they will then provide you with date, time and general location for the interview. You will be given roughly 72 hours to provide a response back if you are confirming your attendance at the interview. Through my readings on this adventure do NOT expect to always have information in a timely or upfront manner. It may seem last minute but just be flexible and open minded through the process because there is no point to stress yourself out this early in the game.
There is another set of documents you need to provide in both hard copy as well as digital form at the interview. Digital refers to on a USB drive that an ADEC member will upload to a computer when you are registered at the interview.
· Color copy of passport (digital)
· Color copy of 4 passport photos (hard copy, digital)
· Completed health history form (digital)
· Current resume (digital)
· Introductory statement- form is provided (digital). Must be signed in INK.
· Highest degree- must be bachelors, masters or doctorates, copy of diploma (digital)
· Teaching license- current license, must be valid/renewable throughout entire contract (digital)
· Criminal record check- National level, must be within the last year (digital)
· Reference letter- from principal/supervisor, signed on official letterhead (digital)
Face to face interview will be held in Houston on November 22nd.
